MetaTrader League (MTL) is a gamified cryptocurrency trading simulator that seeks to make learning cryptocurrency enjoyable, interactive, and competitive. Trading platforms are infamous for having a complex information-heavy interface, that can be intimidating or overwhelming for new users. MTL aims to create a trading platform that is specifically designed for beginner traders while still providing the technical tools and features experienced traders need. The goal is to achieve the right balance between a user-friendly interface and comprehensive functionality.

To understand MTL's target audience, I conducted a competitive analysis, evaluating both direct and indirect competitors’ strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This helped identify gaps in the market and common pain points among beginner traders. Due to limited resources, I distributed online surveys from Trading Groups to gather insights about their trading experiences, struggles, and expectations. Based on these findings, I developed user personas and stories that represent the target audience’s goals, challenges, behaviors, and attitudes.

UsABILITY Testing Summary
To ensure a seamless user experience, we conducted multiple rounds of usability testing to identify pain points and optimize the platform:
→ Task-Based Usability Testing – Users were asked to navigate the platform, execute simulated trades, and participate in community discussions. Their interactions were observed to uncover friction points and areas for improvement.
→ A/B Testing – Variations of key UI elements, such as button placement and navigation flow, were tested to determine which designs enhanced user engagement and comprehension.
Iterations Based on User Feedback
→ Trading History & Replay Feature – Users can now review their past games and strategies, allowing them to analyze their performance over time. This helps beginners understand what works and what doesn’t, reinforcing learning through experience.
→ Leaderboard & Point System – To enhance competition and motivation, we introduced a global leaderboard alongside ranking badges. Users can now earn points based on their performance, fostering a more engaging and competitive experience.
